GETS OVER $BQO IN PROVO The 145th First Utah Artillery Hand arrived Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock over the Orem road, and was met by a lvge number of citizens at the station. The members were tak-en in charge by the local committee of the County Council of Defense and assigned to homes of citizens, where they were entertained while in our city. The concert opened in the Stake Tabernacle at 8:30 o'clock before an ' audience of about fifteen hundred people. Arch M. Thurman, chairman of the County Council of Defense, welcomed the musicians and introduc ed Conductor lOlarence J, .Hawkins and the band and the large audience gave them a rousing welcome, iEach number of the entire program from the "Imperator March" compos-ed by Oscar E. Chrlstensen, one of the Provo members, and in which he played a clarinet solo, to "The fftar Spangled Banner," the closing num-ber, were excellently rendered and most enthusiastically applauded. Carl Frisby, another of the beys of Provo, played a horn solo In "Rlgo-- letto." - Vocal solos were rendered by Jlar-ve-y A. Pierce, who sang, "The Sun-shine of Your Smile," and by Jack Wright, who sang "Keep The Home Fires Burning," and as an encore, "Jutit A Baby's Trayer." , Chaplain &. ill. Roberts came ln during the progress of the concert. He was Introduced by Chairmen T. N. Taylor of the State Council of De-fense and made a stirring patriotic address. He- - was given an ovation and began his remarks by expressing appreciation of the welcome given the band in which he said the people did not honor the band more than they honored themselves.' He Intro-duced the Provo members, Oscar E. Chrlstensen, Carl Frisby and 'Rudolph A. Peterson, to the audience, having each rise, and finally the band as a whole. Chaplain Robcru then told of the high esteem ln which the band and hot only the band, but the whole Utah Regiment Is held In southern California and read some very com-plimentary press clippings In support of this statement. , He explained that the work of the band was not exclus-ively to furnish mu&tc and entertain-ment, but that In battle the members would be engaged ln looking after the wounded and bringing them to safety. He closed with a strong appeal for the people to realize that great sac-- I riflces must b made to achieve., Tic-tor- y, which would be achieved. After the concert a dance was giv-en ln honor of the band at the 'Mozart Pavilion. JDF MILITARY TYPE V Jersey, Gabardine, Serge, Cotton, . Crash or Unen Materials. ' ' "rrr' ' For traveling, especially on a long trip by motor, a suit like that in the sketch would be an admirable selec-tion. It may be developed la any one of a number of fubrics, such as Jersey cloth, gabardine, heavy serge and oth-er procurable wool materiuls, and cot-to- n khaki cloth, crash or linen. Khaki fj ) colored gabardine was chosen for the suit as designed. It is decidedly mill-tar- y In cut and finish. It is made with two coats, one the suit coat proper shown on the figure, the other a top-coat that Is virtually full length, and In cut and finish an exact replica of the short suit coat - The skirt, ankle length, buttons at the side front, and the sleeves, as will . be noted, are finished with a row of buttons from wrist to elbow. A small close-reefe- d hat should be worn with a suit of this type, and of course the ac-companying blouse should be plain and i ) 'mannish, yashable satin and crepe de chine are excellent selections for a tailored blouse, as these materials launder well and easily, and of course do not rumple as' quickly as linen or most of the cotton fabrics. Suits have been tremendously popu-lar this spring, the strictly tailored, plain models perhaps leading In sales. Eton Jackets have had a variable ca-reer. They started off with a rush, slowed up a little, and then gained new momentum. It Is interesting now to note that one of the style leaders of America, who Is especially well . known as a puce setter In tailored cults, announces that be will offer ' Military Suit With Topcoat ' Hons again ln the fall and believes they will be more popular even than thla spring. The eton suit unques-tionably saves fabric. lie thus bases his prediction of coming demand for the eton on the belief that fabrics will be scarce and higher ln price Dext season. Says Inslde-bathln- g makes any one look and feel clean, weet and refreshed. ' ' I Wasn yourself on the Inside before breakfast like you do on the outside This Is vastly more Important because the skin pores do not absorb Impuri-ties Into the blood, causing Illness, while the bowel pores do. For every ounce of food and drink taken into the stomach, nearly an ounce of waste material must be carried out of the body. If this waste material is not eliminated day by day it quickly ferments and generates poisons, gases and toxins which are absorbed or sucked into the blood stream, through the lymph ducts which Bhouid suck only nourishment to sus-tain the body. A splendid health measure Is to drink, before breakfast each day, a glass ot real hot water with a of limestone phosphate ln It, which Is a harmless way to wash these poisons, gases and toxins from the stomach, liver, kidneys and bowels; thus cleansing, sweetening and freshening the entire alimentary canal befor putting more food Into the stomach. There are a great many people who would be very much benefited by tak-ing Chamberlain's Tablets for a weak or disorder stomach. Are you one of them? Mrs. M. R. Searl, Baldwins-ville- , N. Our drtiRglst advised me to take Chamberlain's Tablets. In some cases It has been necespary to dig channels In streams, drain swamps, and put ln elaborate ditching systems to clean up stagnant pools and streams. In cases where It has been impossible or impracticable to drain swamps and do similar work there has been Installed a system for keeping slpw moving streams and the rtill bodies of water covered with oil. At all points within the camp where there is the slightest possibility of mosquitoes or files breeding daily spraying of oil is done. Arrangements have been completed with the Federal Public Wealth Ser-- , vice to carry out a similar program ln the territories adjacent to the camps. The Health Service ha agreed to fill bogs, open streams, and drain swamps and continue the oil spraying for n distance oT one mile around each camp. Special precautions have been tak-en to prevent the spread of disease by flies. Instructlops were given on the disposal ot materials that were likely to become breeding spots. Ar-rangements were made to protect all food from flies. With this end in view, all buildings In which food Is prepared or stored were screened. Entrances to the buildings hr ve been vestibulcd. An average of 6,000 fly traps have been placed in each camp. More than 22,700,000 square feet of, screening haa been placed in all the camps. DOING GOOD Few medicines have met with more favor or accomplished more good than Chamberlain's Colic and Diarrhoea Remedy. John F.
