Show Mayor Garn to address Chamber Mayor Jake Garn of Salt Lake City will be the speaker at a no-host no-host luncheon of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce to be held Friday, May 31. The meeting will be held at the Town & Country Restaurant at 12 noon. Garn is a candidate for the U. S. Senate on the Republican ticket. In December 1973 Garn was elected to be First Vice President of the National League of Cities. Prior to his election to that post Mayor Garn served as Second Vice President and has remained on the Board of Directors. He has also been active in the United States Conference of Mayors and is a member of the Human Resources Committee of that organization. Active in the Utah League of Cities and Towns, he has served as President and a member of the league's Board of Directors. In 1972, he received the Utah League of Cities and Towns "Tom McCoy Award," as Utah's outstanding municipal official. He was elected in 1971 as the youngest mayor of Salt Lake City and by the largest majority in the city's history.
