Show SUSC win sweepstakes The Southern Utah State forensics squad claimed is greatest victory so far this season, another sweepstakes trophy, at the Western States Forensics Tournament held recently at the University of Southern California. Vickie Green reached the seni-finals, also in extemporaneous speaking. Appel Tuxhorn was a finalist in persuasive speaking, for the third time this year. Linda Nelson was a finalist in oral interpretation of literature. Another successful T-Bird squad member was Kayron Madson who was a finalist in expository speaking, Madson has been a finalist in that area of competition in every tournament tour-nament she has entered this year. Southern Utah also established its prominence in debate with Craig LeDuc and Frank Misak placing second, and Chris Kerecman and John Peterson placing fourth in the tournament. SUSC has now won four successive sweepstakes prizes. Part of the SUSC squad will attend a forensics tourament at Snow College December 1-2, while debate teams Kerecman and Peterson and LeDuc and Misak will complete against top national schools at the Air Force Academy that same weekend. |
