Show Utah State Officers preside at BPW Southern District Spring Conference Bloom, Zion Club; Rhoda Palmer, Richfield; Nettie Pickett, St. George; Jean Owens, Panguitch; Bonnie Williams, Milford and Blanche LeBarbn, Cedar City. New officers for the Southern District for the coming year were installed with an impressive candlelight ceremony. They are Ann Marshall, District Director; Helen Christenson, Vice-director, Vice-director, and Donna Morris, Secretary-Treasurer. All are from Beaver.' By Candace Ewlng ' More than one hundred members of the Business & Professional Women's Clubs attended the Spring Conference of the Southern District which was held at the Town & Country Restaurant the evening of May first. The Spring theme was carried in the table decorations with dainty baskets of flowers. Kathryn Putnam, President of the State Federation presided and presented her officers: Madelaine Parker, President Elect, Greta Bauer,' Vice President; Arlene Huber, Treasurer; Peggy Virden, Recording Secretary; Valentine Gilbert, Corresponding secretary; Mabel O'Brien and Mildred Ritchie, both Past Presidents, and Eloise Bringhurst, Public Relations officer. ' The Conference was arranged .by the following officers of the Southern District: Mary Wiseman, Director; Bea Oxley, Vice director; and Pat Rimpau, Secretary-treasurer. Patsey Daniels of Richfield, was in charge of that portion of the program concerning the Young i tv" l rM'-"" v V ' III Career Women. She introduced Margaret M. Orton, representing the Beaver Club; Susan Gardner, Cedar City Club; and Paula Scott, Richfield Club. They presented their talent numbers in that order. Each gave a five-minute five-minute talk on prominent women in our history or the place of women in a Bi-Centennial Year. Later decision of the judges awarded first place to Susan Gardner. She will compete with winners in the other Districts at the State Convention to be held at Ogden, June 4-5-6th. Four talented young women from Cedar High School entertained. en-tertained. Miss Janice Bick-more, Bick-more, accompanied by Cindy Woodbury, played "Brian's Song" on the flute and Miss Melody Mendenhall, whose accompanist was Emily Jane Eagar, sang "Havenera". The Women of the Year were honored and each one was presented by a member of her club who spoke of her accomplishments. ac-complishments. They were Mae Atkin, representing the Beaver Club, Edna Sargent, Cedar Club, Leona Sorenson, Richfield Club, and Ellen Bentley, St. George Club. All are outstanding women. The Presidents or Vice Presidents of all six member clubs were present and gave short resumes of the year's activities. They were Virginia i STATE & DISTRICT OFFICERS.
