Show Hobbs leaves to study; will return in year Richard Hobbs, basketball and baseball coach at Cedar High School for the past eight years will take a one-year leave of absence from his duties at the conclusion of the present school term to continue con-tinue studies toward his Master's degree. Coach Hobbs has accepted an assistantship at Utah State University in Logan and will during the next year complete academic work toward his master's in the field of Physical Phys-ical Education. The one-year leave has been approved by the Iron County School Board and the board is presently accepting applications applica-tions to fill the vacancy during dur-ing the next school term. Coach Hobbs has won six region Eight baseball championships champ-ionships and two state titles during his eight years at Cedar Ce-dar High. In addition the Red-men Red-men baseball teams, under his leadership, have participated partici-pated in six state playoff series. In basketball the Redmen have won five, region titles for Coach Hobbs and have fin-, ished third in the state classic on two separate occasions. Prior to moving to Cedar City Hobbs coached for three years at Bear Lake School District in Idaho. In his final year there he coached all sports and won state titles in all of them. Coach Hobbs received his bachelor's degree from Idaho State University. |
