The funds will enable the college to make up some past deficits and will probably make it possible to add some new faculty and staff and upgrade up-grade services to students and faculty, Mr. Southwick said. Specific needs outlined to the legislature by SUSC in its bid for adequate funds were (1) improvements of plant operations, op-erations, (2) improvement of plant mantenance, (3) improvement im-provement of the library through book acquisitions. (4) correction of operational deficiencies de-ficiencies due to past lack of funds, and (5) purchase of additional instructional equipment. equip-ment. Mr. Southwick said that,' SUSC's appropriation for the educational and general budget bud-get was 97.7 per cent of the amount recommended by the Utah Board of Higher Education. Educa-tion. Percentages received by other oth-er state institutions include University of Utah, 95 per cent; Utah State University, 94.3 per cent; Weber State College, 95.9 per cent; College of Eastern Utah, 94.6 per cent; Snow Junior College, 95.8 per cent; Dixie College, 95.8 per cent; Utah Technical College at Provo, 89 per cent, and Utah Technical College at Salt Lake City, 97 per cent. |
