With th cooperation of residents resi-dents throughout the community com-munity curb . to curb oiling projets will incorporate a large part of the program, members of the Cedar City Council were told at their meeting Thursday evening. Several sections of the com- munity are cooperating with the city in providing curb to curb oiling, following a season sea-son that saw extensive curb and gutter Installations. Among the streets being Piled are 100 and 200 , East Streets, College Avenue from Main to 200 East, 700 West from 400 to 600 South, a section sec-tion of 900 South Street and others are also being considered, consid-ered, according to city man-l man-l ager Arnold Anderson, i i At the council meeting four appointments to advisory committees wer approved. Re-apotntment Re-apotntment to the Airport Committee for a three-year term was Tom Cardon with Frank Nicholes also approved approv-ed for a three-year term to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gary Giles. Herman Anderson and Vurge Simth were reappointed ' to three-year terms to the Cedar City Safety Council. The council authorized Mayor May-or Loren Whetten to sign an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company to provide crossing of UP. tracks with a water line which will be extended ex-tended to the Cedar City Mun. icipal Airport. Approval was granted the ; annexation of 37 acres of land located north and' east of the ; present city boundaries and ; formerly known as the Sar- j gent property. The area is in planning stages for a Mobile Park by Radec Corporation.' ; The council further heard ; a report from the Cedar City Police Department for ' the month of July. - ; - ? , ; , The 'report indicated that ; the department handled four " felony cases during the month ; and 14 misdemeanors, five of which were connected wjth i the missuse of alcohol. , ; Two juvenile runaways ' 11 sleepers and 26 holds for oth- ! er "agencies were included in i the? report' ' ' ' ' ,. ; In the area of traffic it was : indicated that 4$ moving violations vio-lations and 12 non-moving violations , were handled by . the Cedar City Department. In addition officers provided escorts es-corts for five funerals and ? answered five fire calls dur? ing the month. Unusually, it was pointed out, no drunk ' driving charges were filed in - the entire month. ' |
