Show League Battle Underway In Pony League Utah Construction and State Bank of Southern Utah were winners in the first two games of the Cedar City Pony League baseball played Monday and Tuesday evenings. The league Is slated to hold regular games each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Fri-day of the week. In the opening game Utah Construction defeated Southern South-ern Utah Mortuary by a score of 11 to 6 and Tuesday evening even-ing it was State Bank over Utah Parks by a score of 8 to 4. Ronnie Adams picked up the win in the opening game, scattering five hits to the Mortuary Mor-tuary crew. Hunter suffered the loss for Southern Utah Mortuary as Construction collected col-lected a total of seven hits. Mortuary scored first in the top of the second with the first home run of the season by Thompson. Construction came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning and added a pair in the third to move out 5 to 1. In the fifth Mortuary pushed in four runs to come within one point but' Construction on two hits pushed push-ed In three runs in the bottom to mov,r ou to a safe lead. It was Nolan Roberts picking up the victory for State Bank with Travis Beniah suffering the loss. State Bank scored six runs in the third inning on just one hit and they went on to victory. After six frames it was State Bank out in front by 8 o 0. Parks picked up four runs on just one hit in the . seventh but it was not enough. I Parks was limited to just two i hits in the contest while State Bank had only three hits and nine runs. Two of he hits were triples by Roberts. |
