Show Utah Civic Ballet Will Appear On Music Arts Series March 31 i The rapidly rising Utah Civ-1 Civ-1 ic Ballet will appear in Cedar j City on March 31 as part of a two week tour of Utah which j will bring ballet to 11 dif- I ferent communities. According to Mrs. Rodney Brown, chairman of the Cedar j Cily Music Arts Association, sponsors of the ballet, this I will be part of the most ex- ' tensive presentation of ballet in the state's history. Included on the agenda are Delta, Provo, Vernal, Duchesne, Roosevelt, Price, Castle Dale, Richfield, Ephraim, Cedar City, and St. George. A total of 20 performances will be given during the tour. The troupe of 30 dancers from the Utah Civic Ballet Company and the University of Utah will appear at the College of Southern Utah Auditorium at 8:15 p. m. Music Arts patrons will be ' admitted on their season tickets tick-ets and others interested may purchase tickets at the door on the evening of the performance. perfor-mance. Appearing in leading roles will be ballerinas Barbara Hamblin, Carolyn Anderson, and Janice James. Leading men of the company Include Rocky Spoelstra, John Hiatt, Tom Ruud and Ken Mithchell. One of the youngest professional pro-fessional companies in the United States, the Utah Civic Ballet is rapidly gaining a name for itself both in the Intermountain Area and nationally. na-tionally. This past year it presented its 100th performance perform-ance of "The Nutcracker" to "standing room only" crowds, as well as a smash engagement engage-ment of "Coppolia" las summer sum-mer which brought rave national na-tional reviews. Following the tour of Utah, the company will return to Salt Lake to prepare for a two week performance which will . feature Internationally known Jacques d'Amboise and Melissa Hayden as guest artists. |
