Show ; T-Birds End Losing Streak in Las Vegas Battle A seven game losing streak was stopped Friday night by the College of Southern Utah Thunderbirds Thun-derbirds when they defeated the University of California at San Diego in a game played at the convention center in Las Vegas, Nevada, I The T-Birds defeated the Tritons Tri-tons 55 to 44 in a defensive, low scoring battle. Saturday evening the T-Birds were paired with the Nevada Southern Rebels and the highflying high-flying Rebels turned Coach Boyd Adams' crew back by a score of 92 to 75. Freshman center John Carey turned in a fine effort in the two games with a 21 point output in the opener against the Tritons and 13 against Nevada Southern. South-ern. One of the instrumental factors in the victory was guard Paul West, who had an excellent foor game both nights in addition to scoring 18 against the Tritons and nine against the Rebels. For- ward Larry Moore was fine on the boards in both games and added 14 points to the effort in the Nevada Southern contest. Against U. C. of San Diego the Thunderbirds took an early lead and maintained it throughout. The Tritons were held to just 17 points in the first half of play as the T-Birds moved out to a 25 to 17 advantage. Ryan Wilson, Triton forward wound up with 20 points in the only major effort by the crew from southern California. Against high scoring Nevada Southern, who had defeated Ful-lerton Ful-lerton College 110 to 94 Friday night, the Thunderbirds held their own through the first few minutes of play, moving to an 11 to 11 tie after eight minutes of play. CSU fell flat in the second I quarter of play to give the Rebels Re-bels their opening and they took advantage of it to move out to a 46 to 30 lead at halftime. The lead was compounded early in the second half, before the T-Birds T-Birds again came bouncing back, but the game was already out of reach. In the final ten minutes of play the T-Birds outscored Nevada Southern 30 to 20.
