Show Utah State Shriners Gather Ri Escalante Center The newly renovated Escalante Escal-ante Center was the scene Saturday Sat-urday Evening of a state-wide gathering of Shriners and their ladies. The occasion was the reactivation reactiva-tion of the Shrine Club of Southern South-ern Utah and the installation of officers by the Illustrious Potentate Poten-tate of El Kalah Shrine, Gail F. Bywater of Salt Lake City. Installed Ins-talled were Gustin O. Gooding, Cedar City, President; Clyde W. Lyman, St. George, Vice-President; and M. F. Halden, Cedar City, Secretary and Treasurer. Dinner was served to 118 guests including visitors from Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Las Vegas, and most of the communities com-munities in Southern Utah. The dinner was followed with entertainment en-tertainment by the famed Egyptian Egyp-tian Dancers of Salt Lake City and by Mrs. Grayson Gowen of Cedar City who performed a Japanese Jap-anese Fan Dance. This was followed by dancing to the music of Doug Knell and his orchestra. Guests were generous in their praise of the fine banquet served under the direction of Sherrell Davis and with the splendid facilities fac-ilities of the new Escalante Center. Cen-ter. Arrangements for the affair were made two days after the announcement of the renovation plans and Mr. Gooding expressed his deep appreciation of the cooperation co-operation and helpfulness of all the many people who made possible pos-sible the completion of the facility facil-ity in time for Saturday Evening's Even-ing's festivities. The activities at the Escalante Center were preceded by a get-acquainted get-acquainted fellowship hour at the Imperial Motel, hosted by the Potentate. Sunday morning, the visitors enjoyed breakfast at the Student Center on the campus of the College of Southern Utah before returning to their homes. |
