Show Promotional Groups At Chamber Meeting Regular membership meeting of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce was held Wednesday noon at Hotel El Escalante. In addition to representatives of the Cedar chamber, a delegation delega-tion from Tarowan and a delegation dele-gation from the Escalante Valley Val-ley were in attendance at the meeting. From Parowan were Earl Bunn, Iron County commissioner; Clair Rowley, John Pendleton, and Jess Guymon. Bryner Wood, Alfred Al-fred Pederson and John McOar-ry, McOar-ry, Jr., were in attendance from the Escalante Valley. Purpose of the represented delegations del-egations was to stimulate a promotion pro-motion to develop a county-wide Industrial development organization, organi-zation, according to D. W. Corry, chamber president. It is anticipated, antici-pated, he indicated, that the group will now appear before the County Commission to continue con-tinue the stimulation of the program. Guest speakers for the dinner meeting wore Senator Charles R. Hunter and Representative Ku-men Ku-men Gardner. The Iron County state legislative pair discussed the recent sessions and legislation legisla-tion affecting this area. Reports were also heard from, the College of Southern Utah Expansion Ex-pansion committee, which Is attempting at-tempting to develop the addition addi-tion of a four year program In ( secondary education at the college. col-lege. Committee, headed by Dixie Leavitt, has Invited members of the Utah State University board of trustees to meet in Cedar City to further discuss the progTam. A letter from President Daryl Chase, was read indicating that a specialist from the East will be called on to make a further study of the proposed expansion program and that following that study the group would consider the Invitation. Financial report was read Indicating Indi-cating that approximately $5000 has been collected In business and Individual dues this year. It was also Indicated that a membership mem-bership drive would be conducted In the very near future. |
