Show Cedar, Parowan Schools Accredited, Board Told; Teacher Changes Made Iron County School board meeting meet-ing in regular session Monday, were informed that Cedar City High School has been accredited by the Northwestern Crediting Association. Early this year the board was notified that Parowan high school had also been accredited. ac-credited. A change in teaching status in Cedar City schools was also reported finalized as the result oi tlu acceptance by Douglas Kusoell, of the Cedar City high school faculty as an executive secretary for the Davis County School Teachers Assn. Mr. Russell accepted the appointment ap-pointment in January and remained re-mained at his position as History instructor at the high school until un-til his position in the district could be filled. Supt. Wrght announced that Allen Bauer, a fifth grade teach-at teach-at the East Elementary, has been appointed to fill the high school vacancy. It was approved by the board and it was pointed out that Mr. Bauer majored In history his-tory and with sor.ie schooling will be eligible in the near future fu-ture for his secondary school certificate. cer-tificate. Ford Foundation Reports , The school board also heard re-ports re-ports of Ford Foundation Small School projects studies being made at Escalante Valley and Parowan Elementaries. George Jolley, principal of Escalante Valley and Max S. Dalley, principal prin-cipal of the Parowan High School made the reports. A report was also heard from Supt. Wright and James Sand-berg, Sand-berg, president of the board, regarding re-garding their attendance at a meeting of CAPS held February 5 at American Fork. The board, following a hearing with a delegate from Parowan, went op record as recommending that fundf le allowed to Parowan Paro-wan City to facilitate the completion com-pletion of a swimming pool project. pro-ject. Special Meeting Saturday The board also announced that a special session of the board would be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at the offices In Cedar City at which time bids will be opened for a 48 passenger bus and station sta-tion wagon. Original call for bids was set for Monday, but a request re-quest for delay was granted with a new deadline of Thursday, Feb. 11 for the submission of bids. |
