I Upon recommendation of tri-City tri-City Planning Commission the City Council adopted two ordi- nances, to establish a special motel district at the corner of 75 East and 400 South Streets, and the other to establish a new commercial district on the North side of Highway 91 from 300 West Street to the south city limits. The motel ordinance provides for the development of a motel 'extension into a residental area in connection with property on Main Street. While the land was originally included in a residential residen-tial area, it had proved unsatisfactory unsat-isfactory for this purpose, and will now be developed under a specially controlled motel area. The establishment of the new commercial zone is designed to prevent the establishment of certain cer-tain types of businesses adjacent to the proposed new high school campus. The new zone is a change from the present zone with certain restrictions established. estab-lished. The planning commission had recommended that a portion of the LaVista Subdivision in the southeast portion of the city be (vacated and a change be made in residential zoning regulation? to permit the erection of the county hospital in that area. The land purchased by the county was originally sub-divided in the LaVista subdivision, and is located in an area where no provision for such structures or facilities had been made. The change needed in zoning to meet these requirements was recommended recom-mended by the planning commission, commis-sion, and the public hearing is called for this purpose. Permission was granted prop-erty prop-erty owners on 610 West Street I between 500 and 600 West Streets to install sidewalks against the curb, providing the project includes all property on the street, and a six-foot wide walk be installed, that uniform tree planting be undertaken. It was decided at the meeting that because of the illness of Wes MeEown, city building inspector, in-spector, it would be necessary to accept his resignation, and name a new inspector. Applica-Itiorts Applica-Itiorts for the position will be accepted ac-cepted by the Council unt.l Thursday, Feb. 2, at which time a successor to Mr. McEown will be named. |
