Show University to Accord Master's Degree To LaVell Chamberlain Hans LaVell Chamberlain, an instructor at the Cedar City Junior Jun-ior High School, is scheduled to receive his master's degree in exercises ex-ercises to be conducted at the L'niversiety of Utah August 21. Chamberlain successtuily completed com-pleted a Sequential Summer In-" stitute conducted at the U over the past four years. The Institute has been sponsored spon-sored for consecutive summers on the Utah campus by the National Science Foundation. The Foundation's Founda-tion's purpose in sponsoring such programs is to provide additional training for secondary school teachers of the sciences, and so improve scientific training in the nation's schools. Degrees will be awarded to teachers who have attended all four sessions and who completed thesis and course work this summer. sum-mer. Chamberlain completed his thesis on the Green's Lake Watershed Water-shed Project. The Institute has been under the direction of Dr. Thomas J. Parmley, professor of physics at the U of U. Half of the participating partici-pating teachers came from Utah, the other half from eleven other western states and Maryland. |
