Show Locai Department Staff, Auxiliary Prepare for Visiting Firemen. Wives The vanguard of an expected 800 firemen from all parts of Utah will begin to arrive in Cedar City next Wednesday, Wed-nesday, July 30, for the opening of the 49th annual convention con-vention of the Utah Firemen's Association, to be held here on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1, 2 and 3. With the Cedar City Volunteer Fire Department playing play-ing host for this major state convention, firemen and anxlliary unit members from all parts of Utah will assemble for an Interesting and varied program pro-gram of business, demonstrations and entertainment. Enthusiastic Ralph Hanzon, Cedar City Fire chief, reports that all member of the local fire department, enthusiastically en-thusiastically supported by the officers and members of the auxiliary, aux-iliary, have been working for many weeks formulating a program pro-gram that should be most worth, while and entertaining for all who attend. Registration will be at the Cedar Ce-dar City firehouse at 8 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 1, and continue until noon. The first meeting will convene at 10 a. m. Thursday In the Parks Theatre, with Frank P. Jones, rresident of the association, pre. siding. A second meeting will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, at which detailed business matter, including the presentation of charters, honorary membership certificates, and service certificates certifi-cates will occupy the members. At this meeting nominations for the election of officers will be made and bids for the 1038 convention con-vention will be accepted. Memorial services, at which all departed firemen will be honored, will be held at 3 p. m. to be followed by a parade at 7 p. m. The final event of the day will be a dance in the College of Southern Utah ballroom. Special Breakfast Past and present officers will gather for a special breakfast Friday morning, and at 10 a. m. a business meeting will be held at which reports will be given, and other business matters will be handled. Speakers at this session ses-sion will be Association President Presi-dent Jones, and I Royden C. Braithwaite, director, College of Southern Utah. A stag luncheon will be ht-l1 at noon, and the afternoon will be devoted to exhibitions and The annual banquet will be held at the College fleldhouse Friday evening, followed by a public dance. ...
