Show Former Parowan Man Dies, Services Held in Salt Lake City Funeral services were held on Tuesday at noon for Clifford Em-pen, Em-pen, former Parowan man, who died at a Salt Lake hospital on Saturday. The services were held in the Wells Ward chapel with a number of relatives from Parowan Par-owan goinj; to attend. Mr. Empey, aged 72, died from natural causes after a period of ill health. Burial took place in the Salt Lake City cemetery. The deceased was born Mar. 30, 1893 In St. George to Joseph L. and Ovilla Liston Empey, and spent his early years there. He was married to Mary Belle Benson Ben-son of Parowan, June 1, 1916 in the St. George Temple Coming to Parowan In 1918, Mr. Empey was a teacher in the Parowan school system until 1932 when the family moved to Salt Lake City when he became be-came an employee of the Internal Revenue Service, where they ha.'e since resided. He was an a. live member of the LDS Church and served in ward auxiliaries of that church while In Parowan. He Is survived by his widow, Salt Lake City; and the following follow-ing sons and daughters: Harry C, Santa Rosa, Calif.; Claudell, South Gate, Calif.; Clair B., Tulsa, Tul-sa, Okla.; Mrs. Calvin (Alice) Fisher, Billings, Mont., and Mrs. Wayne (Betsy) West, Salt Lake City. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, grand-children, a brother, Nelson Empey, Em-pey, St. George, and a sister, Mrs. LaVern Daly, Orem. Going from here to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Smith, Mrs. Clara Benson and daughter, Neta, Jay Benson, Mrs. Barbara Burt and her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Jim Burt, the latter of Cedar City. |
