Show Cedar Redmen Lose to Dixie, Defeat Delta In Division, Regional Playoffs, Take Third Cedar High School Redmen are In the State Class B basketball tournament and opened against South Rich Wednesday evening at Provo. The Redmen are defending consolation champions of the state prep classic and it was South Rich in the opening round of the toumame jitin 1961 who sent the Redmen Into the consolation con-solation division. The Redmen finished in fifth place and South Rich finished in third. This year the Redmen entered the Class B tournament as the third place entrant from Region Ten. Last year they entered as a second place team, but ' Coach Bruce Decker, indicated before the tournament opened that if everything went well he expected expect-ed this team to finish higher than last year. Looking back over the season's record the ReBmen have some important wins to their credit, including wins over Gunnison and over Milford, both teams who entered this year's event as first place entrants. All in all the Redmen will be counting on strong rebounding from Neil Roberts, Paul Stokes and Kent Smith with outside shooting by Donnie Roberts and Kent Farnsworth. For added strength on the boards Coach Decker will call on Bill Vorkink. Brent Nelson and John Sttphen-son. Sttphen-son. For help in the backcourt it will be Scott Truman, with additional addi-tional reserve strength from a pair of Juniors, Hans Chamberlain Chamber-lain and Denny Jones. The only sophomore on the squad, Lee I Hunter, has also shown some good backboard strength during the season. In all games, including those which the Redmen have lost, they have mostly controlled the boards, and in most instances they havt had the hotter shooting shoot-ing from the field. The one department de-partment that Coach Decker is hoping, to correct during the tournament is the ability of the Redmen to get off more shot during the course of the game. In all games this season the Redmen opponents have gotten more shots and in some instances, in-stances, although out rebounded and outshot, percentage wise from the field, the greater number num-ber of shots has paid off for tneir opponents. With good rebounding, good shooting and with more shots Coach Decker hopes to make a strong showing in this year's 16-team 16-team tourney.
