Show Cedar City Social Swing A new organization in Cedar City, the Pochontas Club, met together to-gether Friday, Dec. 20, at the home of lone Bolander. 18 guests were in attendance and enjoyed a gift wrapping demonstration by Mrs. Bolander assisted by Mrs. May Farshonts. The club ladies have been meeting every week but plan to hold regular meetings in the future only every other week. The Sixth Ward MIA officers and teachers and their partners enjoyed a holiday social together Monday evening. The event began be-gan at 8:00 p. m. in the recreation recrea-tion hall with dinner served, followed by a seasonal program and exchanging of Christmas presents. Sunday, members of the family met to honor their father, Kumen Leigh, who was celebrating his birthday anniversary. Present for dinner and the birthday social were Mr. and Mrs. Cardon Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leigh and Mr. and Mrs. Antone Cox. Also helping help-ing share the birthday celebration celebra-tion with Mr. Leigh were seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. The guest was the recipient of many special gifts. Mr. and Mrs, Kerry Jones invited in-vited several couples to their home Sunday evening for a buffet buf-fet supper. As special guests the Joneses had Mr. and Mrs. Florin Neilsen of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Neilsen will be remembered as the former Thelma Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Clive Davis who once made their home in Cedar City. Other couples spending the evening at the Jones residence were Mr. and Mrs. Kay Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Marian Hahne and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Knell. Spending an evening in Las Vegas at a special holiday party were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Averett and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Chamberlain. Chamber-lain. The foursome were guests of the Wilgar Glass Company at a dinner held in the Thun-derbird Thun-derbird Hotel. Following the dinner, din-ner, al of the guests enjoyed the show, "Anything Goes." Enroute to Phoenix, Ariz., where she is spending the Christmas Christ-mas holiday with her mother, Miss Gayle Knell enjoyed visiting visit-ing In Cedar City with friends. Guests this holiday season at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Giles Bolander has been their son, Terry, and his wife, Judy, of Salt Lake City. Terry and Judy also enjoyed visiting with Judy s family at the Wood row Truman home. Other guests of Mr. and Mrs. Giles Bolander is Mrs. Bo-lander's Bo-lander's mother, Mrs. Lois Ma-loney Ma-loney of Panguitch. Mrs. Malo-ney Malo-ney is dividing her holiday visit with another daughter, Helen, and sorc-ln-law, Robert Linford. Mrs. Lee Thompson and daughters, daugh-ters, Nancy and Linda are spending spend-ing the current season In California Cali-fornia where they are guests of Mrs. Thompson's sisters in Los Angeles and her parents In Auburn. Au-burn. Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas S. Clark and their three daughters daugh-ters left for southern California where they will spend the holiday holi-day week with Mrs. Clark's parents par-ents In Pamona. While there the Clark's also pirn to visit with many long time friends who have also returned to Pomona for the holiday season. Members of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority celebrated the holl day at a party Thursday evening at the CSU Center. The club ladles lad-les and their partners enjoyed dinner together after which they were entertained by the Lion's CUv boys trio, Tvluigari oiavn, Ken Benson and Ross Glass. Other entertainment was a musical mus-ical selection in keeping with the holiday mood which was performed per-formed by Jean Peterson. Mrs. Peterson also lead the group In singing Christmas songs. Before adjourning, gifts were exchang-ed. exchang-ed. One week ago Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bauer and their son, David Wesley, arrived in Cedar where they enjoyed visiting at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Cox and where Raymond was stationed sta-tioned with the Navy. Mrs. Bauer Bau-er (Sherlene) and David will remain re-main in Cedar City for several months while Raymond serves a coastal tour of duty. His current base station is in Ixmg Beach, California. Employees of Cedar, Dixie and Kanab Glass companies were treated to a holiday dinner in Cedar City at Sullivan's Cafe. The guests met together Wednes- day evening for the affair. Wives of the employees who also en-Joyed en-Joyed the occasion were presented present-ed with special Christmas favors. The group enjoyed singing Yule-tied Yule-tied carols and visiting following the festive repast. The annual Thorley Ford Christmas party was staged this past Saturday night with employees em-ployees of Thorley's and their partners participating In the festive fes-tive social. For the event the guests met at Sullivan's Cafe where they were treated to a steak dinner. Each of the ladies received a special favor and gifts were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorley and to Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Baldwin by employees employ-ees of the company. During the party everyone enjoyed the extemporaneous ex-temporaneous program put on by a few of the guests. Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Meade Forsyth several sev-eral couples met to enjoy a pre-Christmas pre-Christmas Dinner. A holiday atmosphere at-mosphere was expressed in decorations. decor-ations. Entertaining members of her Pinochle club Thursday even-nlng even-nlng was Sharon Peck. For the event Mrs. Peck invited a guest Tess Mason, to Join the regular club members. Amid a Yuletide setlng in decorations, the guests enjoyed playing cards. Prizes were awarded to Christine Wint-errose Wint-errose and Uldeen Norton for high scores. Guests gathered Saturday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Bette Middleton for a special party. The occasion was planned for Scott Jones who had just returned return-ed trom a two month tour of the Caribean, the Virgin Islands ind Old Mexico. Many of Scott's Tiends where in attendance at the event. Mr. Jones Is planning plan-ning to return to California soon, where he will continue his employment em-ployment in San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Naegle have just returned from Nevada where they visited for a week with their son, LaMar, and his wife, the former Joyce Matheson of Parowan, and their three children. chil-dren. The LaMar Naegles reside re-side in Weed Heights. During the holiday week Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cahoon are enjoying enjoy-ing a visit from their daughter and son-in-law and their son Steve who is vacationing from school activities. Employees of Safeway store and their partners enjoyed a Christmas party last week at the College of Southern Utah Student Stu-dent Center. Dinner was served and the group spent the remainder remain-der of the evening with traditional tradi-tional holiday activities. |
