Show Cedar City Chapter to Host SUP National Encampment The National Encampment of! the Sons of Utah Pioneers will! open in Cedar City Friday andj continue through Sunday with the Cedar City Chapter of the : organization serving as hosts. 1 General sessions of the convention con-vention will be held at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah campus and several excursion trips are planned during the three-day encampment, en-campment, according to Clem Judd, general chairman. Registration for the national encampment will begin, Friday, Aug. 27 from 2:30 to 6 p. m. In the CSU auditorium breezeway. A cafeteria style dinner will be served at the student center at 6:30 p. m. and a gala variety program will be held at the CSU auditorium at 8:15 p. m. Friday. General business session of the encampment will be held at 9 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 28. During that time ladies in attendance at the convention will be enter- tained at the Indian Village chapel. At noon box lunches will be prepared and those in attendance will make a trek that will include in-clude stops at Iron Town, at Mountain Meadows and will 'con-elude 'con-elude back in Cedar City where a visit to the Wm. R. Palmer Museum will be enjoyed. Friday evening the SUP Presi-dent's Presi-dent's banquet will be held at the student center. The banquet will be highlighted by the presentation pre-sentation of awards and the announcement an-nouncement of winners in various var-ious contests such as short stories. stor-ies. Another highlight of Friday's activities will be a flag ceremony cere-mony to be presented by the SUP Mormon Battalion. The ceremony cere-mony will be at 6:45 p. m. on the CSU campus. Breakfast wil be served at the student center Sunday morning and the encampment will conclude con-clude with a devotional service to be held at the CSU auditorium at 8:30 a. m. |
