There was one thing wrong with the parade, according to the chairman, with other people voicing voic-ing the same opinion, and that was the absence of the band, which failed to get together for the occasion, after the committee commit-tee had been led to assume that it would take part. Lack of Interest among the members is reported to have contributed to its failure to participate. A good program was presented at the patriotic meeting following follow-ing the parade, with the American Ameri-can Legion and Auxiliary in charge with the program, featuring fea-turing talks by Taylor Miller as the principal speaker with Hyatt Bentley as "Uncle Sam", Sandra Decker as "Goddess of Liberty," and Betty Jo Bess as "Miss Utah" also giving talks. Musical numbers included a vocal solo by President Howard Knight, and a vocal duet by Mrs. Vanda Harman and Mrs. Helen Whitney, with numbers by the congregation. The afternoon racing and rodeo program sponsored by the Red Hill Wranglers, drew the biggest crowd of the day with many out-' of-town people joining local residents res-idents for the program. The children's sports late in the afternoon drew the usual participation of the kiddies with the Tri-H Club in charge of activities. |
