Show Psychiatric Expert Addresses Mental Health Group Cedar City and Iron County residents were praised last evening eve-ning by Dr. C. H. Hardin Branch, head of the department of psychiatry, psy-chiatry, college of medicine at the University of Utah, for steps that have been taken here in meeting mental health education problems. Dr. Branch appeared befort a large audience of local residents Wednesday evening as guest speaker on the problems of mental men-tal health, under the sponsorship sponsor-ship of the Iron County Mental Health Association. An audience that filled the auditorium to capacity, ca-pacity, showed tremendous interest in-terest in Dr. Branch's presentation, presenta-tion, and joined in a lively audience aud-ience question period moderated by Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth following fol-lowing the lecture. The speakers emphasized the fact that Utah has just as great a problem in mental health as other states, and pointed out that the best solution of the problem will come through state-wide organization for the purpose of creating greater understanding of the problem through education. educa-tion. Thurman. state director of Mental Health Education, Educa-tion, and Mrs. Jane Thomas, executive ex-ecutive secretary of the state association, as-sociation, met with members ol the local board to assist in formulating for-mulating plans for a special conference con-ference to be held in May. They urged the local group to continue contin-ue its activities and to do all it can to influence others in undertaking under-taking similar programs. |
