With only two evenings of play, six games being completed since the lay-off, very little change has taken place in the standing with the exception of the Second Ward which lost games to the College and Third wards respectively respec-tively Monday and Tuesday to drop from a tie for second place to fifth place standing. However, the Second Warders didn't give up without a battle trailing only one point against the College Ward at half-time, 21 to 20. Led by Don Marshall and Bob CVane in the second half, Monday evening, the College Col-lege Ward gradually lengthened the point spread and took a 43 to 30 win from the Second warders. The Second Ward might have what you would call the "second half blues" for it led the Third Ward by 10 points in its second encounter of the week only to see the Third Warders overtake them in the third quarter and go ahead to a 42 to 37 victory. Monday night will see the completion of the first half of league play for the M-Men and the leading Third Ward has only one game remaining to make a clean slate of the first half. The College Ward, far from out of the picture, has lost only one encounter, en-counter, that to the Third Ward and by one point. They will have a chance to even up the score in the second half. In other games this week the Institute jumped into third place by defeating the Sixth Ward on Monday evening, and trimming Kanarra Tuesday. The Founli Ward, still a strong contender for honors, won its only encounter encoun-ter of the week by defeating the First Ward. In the only other game of the week the Fifth scored its second victory of the leaugue by downing the Sixth Ward, 34 to 28. The second half schedule will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 12, according ac-cording to Gordon Jones, league supervisor. |
