Show I Yelf are Yorkers Study Divorce Ways of combatting the rising rate of divorce in the state dominated dom-inated discussions at Utah State Conference of Social Workers in the southern part of the state held at the College of Southern Utah Wednesday. The concensus of the confer- j ence leaders was that all re-. sources of ttie community and state should be utilized in an effort ef-fort to not only stop the increase in divorce cases but to reduce the number. J A panel discussion on divorce featured the morning session at which Miss Mamie Eck, director of the Iron County Department of Public Welfare, presided. Panel Pan-el members included David F. Anderson, Sixth District Juvenile Juven-ile Judge; John Farr Larson, director, di-rector, Bureau of Children's Services, Ser-vices, State Welfare Department, and Mrs. Afton P. Crocker, director di-rector of social service, Salt Lake County Welfare Department. Dr. Reed Farnsworth, chairman chair-man of the Iron County Mental Health Association, presided at the afternoon meeting, at which time the discussion topic was "The Need of a Wholesome Emotional Emo-tional Climate for Children." Between the two meetings the social workers were conducted on a tour of the College of Southern Utah campus, with Dr. Daryl Chase explaining the facilities fa-cilities designed for the education educa-tion and development of the youth of rural Utah. |
