Show Half of Prize Money Raised for Handicap At Vets Race Meet With over half of the $500 goal for the Businessmen's Handicap, in connection with the second annual Cedar City Veterans Race meet, already donated, committee commit-tee member John McKnight felt confident Wednesday the total amount would be secured with little difficulty. Mr. McKnight said that local merchants were cooperating fully with the Veterans Vet-erans Organization in an effort to make this year's meet the best in the state of Utah in 1948. A $1000 purse race, the Busi nessmen's Handicap will undoubtedly un-doubtedly draw the finest thoroughbreds thor-oughbreds In the intermountain area. The feature race, twice as large a purse as the richest race run in the state to date, the Governor's Handicap at Spring Acres, Springvllle, according to all indications will put Cedar City on the west's racing map. The $1,000 purse is the most lucrative lu-crative offered hbrsemen In the state during the past six years.
