Show Shii'ts Responsibility The action of the city counril in discontinuing garbage collection service ser-vice in the business district, and of removing the Incinerators Irom the area has created a situation that results re-sults in the business district and Main street becoming rather unsightly, un-sightly, unless each business man accepts the responsibility of keeping keep-ing his own back yard clean and free from rubbish. Business firms are expected to make their own arrangements for hauling off garbage, which should not be too difficult, but the removal of the Incinerators may cause an unsightly condition. When packing materials, cardboard boxes, wrapping materials, etc., are placed behind the buildings the wind scatters it all over the block and blows it onto main street filling the gutters. This occurs even when the materials are placed In containers, unless they are hauled off Immediately. This fact was definitely proven before the incinerators in-cinerators were placed in the business busi-ness district. Therefore it will be necessary to haul off all such accumulations immediately im-mediately unless we want to revert to the conditions that prevailed a year or so ago. The action was taken because a few merchants would not cooperate and because a few of them were dissatisfied with the service provided pro-vided by the city. It Is unfortunate that all should surfer because of the action of a few, but it is now up to the merchants themselves to keen the business district and Main street clean. We hope they accept the responsibility. |
