Show The College Glee Club HERE are a number of things which T THERE L the University needs Some of them are within our reach some are not The College Glee Club spoken of in our last number is one which is needed and andone andone andone one which is within our reach By all means let us push the club through Our literary societies have hitherto engrossed the attention and consumed the energy of nearly all the students at the expense of other important departments of college activity Literary societies are all right in their own way but have we not too many of them We Weare are acquiring knowledge every day in the room class-room and anything which tends to lighten or make happier the preparation of our lessons ought to be encouraged The success which is attending the glee clubs of other institutions can only deepen the regret that we are so slow in organizing such a club third One-third of the college year is about over but two- two thirds yet remain We shall have en entertainments entertainments enter enter- ter- ter lectures and the like during the remainder of the year at which a aglee aglee aglee glee club would come in very handy T Then also if we are ever victorious in inan an any football or baseball game or in other contests the glee club would al always always always al- al ways be present to celebrate our good fortune If on the other hand we should suffer defeat the club would pour oil on the wound and anO go far towards benumbing the sense of our misfortune A lack of musical talent cannot be brought forward against the formation of such a worthy organization We have many students who give promise of future distinction in the musical world The CHRONICLE will do anything it can canto canto canto to help this matter along but there is a point at which it has to stop and let someone else go on Is there not some enterprising student who will take hold of this glee club and push it through trough a club which will certainly develop college spirit and loyalty to the University University University Uni Uni- |
