Show Many Activities On B. A. C. Calendar An opera, an oratorio and many instrumental and vocal group activities ac-tivities are on the calendar for the Branch Agricultural College for this year, it was reported by music department de-partment heads. The oratorio will be Handel's "Messiah" to be presented Just before be-fore Christmas by the vocal and instrumental in-strumental departments. "Rlgoletto" by Verdi has been selected as the opera for presentation early In the spring. In addition, the varsity band is providing music for all athletic events and pep rallies as an aid to school spirit. The concert band also plans a formal concert during the spring, according to Professor Halversen. A mixed chorus of eighty voices under the direction of Prof. William H. Manning of tiie vocal department is preparing a concert to be given early in November. This is the first of several presentations by the vocal department this season. In December Decem-ber this group will Join with vocalists vocal-ists from Cedar City for the "Messiah" "Mes-siah" performance. Ensemble work is also well underway un-derway in the vocal department, Professor Manning indicated. A mixed quartet, two ladies' trios and two male quartets have been organized, or-ganized, and are preparing to furnish furn-ish programs for the community as well as the college. Cast members for the opera arc being selected, and ensemble work for the performance is underway. After its presentation here, it will be taken on tour of Southern Utah, Professor Manning said. |
