Show Utah 4-H Winners Named TOP ranVing records In the 1950 national 4-H leadership, home Improvement Im-provement and frozen foods programs have brought state honors to four c-lub members. 1SI T2s Bernard Enqlt Ltw Wnn Bunkar OutstandinR leadership in club and community brought FtHte honors to Bernurd Knt?le, 17, of Spanish Fork, and Lew Wannii Hunker, 1C. of Delta. A 4-H't for six years, Dernard has led a garden gar-den club the past year. He personally per-sonally Inspected the gardens and under his guidance several members mem-bers won county blue ribbons and also exhibited at the State Fair. H was his responsibility to see that the exhibits were properly prepared. Previously he had helped younger members with their beef projects advising on fitting and showing the animal. Hcrnard was chosen mayor of the 4-H Camp this year, and assisted with recreational recrea-tional activities. Intensely Interested Inter-ested in 4-H, he hopes to lead another an-other club next year. Miss Hunker, also a club member mem-ber for six yenrs, wps junior leader of a clothing dull last year and Is now lender. Under Lew Wanna's direction, direc-tion, two of the girls won blue ribbons rib-bons at the recent Mll'ard County Fair, and one received a blue ribbon rib-bon tit the State Fair. She has coached them in conducting n meeting and given them pointers In demonstrating "and Judpinc. There's no fuss or muss to Ferve a tasty meal on short notice in the Richins family of Draper, since daughter Janice, 15, has learned how to freeze all kinds of food. Proof that she did a first rate job is not only in the eating, but also in the fact that she won top state honors in the 4-H Frozen Foods program. The award, a handsome gold watch inscribed with her name, was presented by International Interna-tional Harvester. A club member for five years, Janice prepared and froze 1,574 pounds of meat, poultry, poul-try, fruits, vegetables, soups and a variety of home baked bread;', cakes, cookies and pies. Janice has made 40 exhibits, winning many awards. She lias served her local club as president. . With one eye on enhancing lwr home and the other on the familv pocketbook, Aurella Jones, 17. of Cedar City, succeeded in doing a better job than any other 4 H er in the state in the home improvement im-provement program. Her reward --a trip to National 4-H Club Congress in Chicat'o was provided pro-vided by Se(irs I!ocbii( k Foundation. Founda-tion. Aurella decided to start with her own room. The walls were painted a soft shade of green. Ccral and dark green chintz drapes were used to develop a harn.cnious color scheme. The floor was the biggest job In the project, aed many hours of patient labor wnt into the sanding, rubbing down and applying penetrating wood seal. lcmonstrations on "Finishing Home Floors" have won for Aur- ella manv awrrds. During seven years In 4-H, she ha served her cl il) as president and junior leader, ami has always cooperated in community affairs.
