Show Tailings IT was a bright pleasant May after after- noon The hands of the clock point to toa a few minutes after three and I take my seat in the library facing to the north Sitting opposite me b by an open widow with an English Classics book in her lap is one oue of our most popular young ladies She now has a serious mien and looks fixedly at the open field To all appearances in that mind is revolving some deep and import all ant philosophical theory A happy solution must now be formed for a smile the smile the smile of success success creeps creeps over those rosy cheeks The book is taken up and a few lines are hurriedly read it is then placed again in her lap and seriously she looks out of the the open window perhaps pondering over the lines she has just read But now she shel l looks more steadily and longer than before Ah her thoughts must be sad What causes her to survey so intently the open field Quietly I go and take up a late magazine Though apparently reading it I am am glancing over her shoulder and andon on the ground below I se see see that the cadets are drilling The order to take rest has just been given esen the eyes of a young officer are turned towards towards towards to to- wards the window A A happy smile creeps all over his face and his pretty white teeth glisten in the di distance tance The young lady too looks to be the happiest person on earth The trumpet has sounded and the company has broken ranks Soon the couple are on their way home As I pass her house half an hour later I see them standing at the gate An hour after this I was out riding and passing the same same place I see the couple still conversing with one another It is just fifteen minutes after eight as Professor Whiting mounts the plat plat- form in the Art Gallery to deliver his lecture before the Zeta Gamma A few seats to the west of me the couple is still to be seen It is now a few minutes after ten and on my way home I meet met the two at the sa same me place as asin in the afternoon and for all I know they are still standing standing standing stand stand- ing at that gate talking talking talking TV W.
