Show Children's Independence Day Parade Proves Huge Success Color galore marked the annual an-nual Children's Independence Day Parade on July 5th. Every shade and hue of the rainbow was represented on a bicycle, a float or a fanciful costume. Did you catch a glimpse of curb service ser-vice on a minature auto, Robin Hood, a lovely ballerina, a color col-or bearer flanked by two tiny drumcrs, the hardy pioneers, "Mayor Parry", the dogs all "dogged up", and all the dainty misses with their colorful buggies? bug-gies? That's Just a few of all of the outstanding things entered in the parade. The response this year was the largest to date in this division of the Independence Day fete. Under Un-der the sponsorship of the Cedar City Jaycee-Ettes, the children were very responsive and delighted de-lighted with the parade. There were very few duplications of Ideas, and the wide variety made the Judging quite difficult. The decisions were reached, and the prizes awarded at the beginning of the races In the afternoon. Judges In the affair were Phyllis Wood, Forrest Hunter, and Sgt. Carrol N. Staker. The large group of cyclists made it necessary to award four prizes in the division. Every participating child received receiv-ed a ticket for a free swim good anytime until July 10th from the Cedar City Recreation Department, Depart-ment, and all-day suckers from the Jaycee-Ettes in addition to the special prizes. The following are the winners announced and their cash awards: Milne Truck Line with Howard Milne and Neal Gentry, $3.00; Center Grocery with Jean Arthur, $2,00; Givan's with Pamela Pam-ela and Sharie Glvan, $2.00 special spe-cial award; the Cedar City Lions Club with Vicki Taylor, Kent Brown, Ronald Anderson, Dane Gardner, Sharon Anderson, Linda Lin-da Macfarlane, Chad Halverson, Robert Lowder, Bruce Taylor, $5.00; Third Ward Primary with Ruth Marie Bauer, Jerry Nelson, Kathleen Applegate, Patsy Wool-sey, Wool-sey, Carol Gardner, Marilyn Stapley, Ward Halterman, Virginia Vir-ginia Brown, Nellie Rae What-cott, What-cott, $6.00; Bicycles and Tricycles, Tricy-cles, Lorraine Palmer, Lee Sher-ratt, Sher-ratt, Ronnie Jones, Bobble Hahne, $1.00 each; Buggies, Linda Lin-da Urie, $1.00; and Cowboy and Indian, Rex 'and Alice Ahlstrom, $2.00.
