The paintings paint-ings were done by Joseph A. Imhof of Los Laos, N. M. In the center is Hazen Coo-lcy, Coo-lcy, chairman of the art exhibit commit- tee, holding a painting called "Superstition "Supersti-tion Mountain". At the left is Loren Whetten, committee member, holding a painting titled, "Indian Drummer, Plains Tribe". Dr. R. VV. Farnsworth, secretary, is shown at right. 'f tf W .f Local Committee Announces Speaker For Opening of Annual Art Exhibit " Announcement was made today to-day that Vance Kilkland, of Den-ver Den-ver University, one of the most popular artists in the local art exhibit, will be the guest speaker speak-er at the opening program of the tenth annual Cedar City Spring Art Exhibit. Mr. Kirkland will speak at the opening program pro-gram of the exhibit Sunday, April 23. The exhibit will continue con-tinue until Sunday, May 7. Artists from all parts of 'the country have indicated that they will send works for the exhibit, and paintings have been arriving arriv-ing daily for several days. At least 200 paintings will be hung according to Hazen Cooley, chairman of the exhibit committee. commit-tee. Kenneth Adams, whose paint- . ing "At The Spring" was the outstanding out-standing work in last year's exhibit, ex-hibit, has indicated that he Is. sending two other outstanding; paintings for this year's show. He will exhibit "Harvest, a painting he claims to be the finest fin-est figure composition he has ever painted, and "Portrait of a Child". The "Harvest" painting will be priced at $3,000 and the other one at $1,000. "At The Spring", priced at $1,000, was purchased by Dr. L. V. Broad-bent. Broad-bent. David A. Vaughan of California, Califor-nia, an outstanding west coast artist, has notified Mr. Cooley that he will exhibit two prize -paintings. Mr. Vaughan was awarded a medal for his. 'The. Welder" at the Spring Annual Exhibit of the San Francisco Palace of the Legion of Honor. His "The Green Melon", won a medal at the San Diego County Fair. Both will be exhibited here. Another artt n.io has not exhibited ex-hibited here in the past few-years, few-years, Howard B. Schleeter of Old Albuquerque, has decided to return to the local show and will exhibit several of his works. In addition to appearing at the exhibit Vance Kirkland will exhibit ex-hibit three oils, Including "Flower "Flow-er of Mars". Members of the National Association As-sociation of Artists, whose works will be hung here this spring; are Umberto Romano, whose paintings, "Jesus" and "Circus-Rider", "Circus-Rider", attracted attention last year; Nlcolai Clkovsky, and Aaron Buhrod. Other prominent artists whose works will be hung in the exhibit ex-hibit again this year are Olaf Molar, of Idaho, Burnan Pcarl-man, Pcarl-man, Elsa Sazod. Elverta Ja-cohsen Ja-cohsen of Salt Lake City; Richard Rich-ard Sorby and Wlllian Sanderson of Colorado; Frldjhof Schroeder of Fairmont West Virginia; Clarence Clar-ence Millett of New Orleans; Dwight Kirsch and Kady Faulkner, Faulk-ner, of Llncon, Nebraska; Hazel Brooks, Eve Van Ek ami Frank Vavra Denver; Joseph A.
