Show REMEMBER REl NOVEMBER NOVEl 14 0 o 0 HURRAH y J WE HAVE I-I I A VE A MANDOLIN GUITAR CLUB The first rehearsal of the University Mandolin Guitar Club was held in theAs th the Assembly Assembly As- As room last Wednesday afternoon and proved beyond a doubt that our college college college col col- lege is to have hav some sonic excellent music from this source within the next nett month A Spanish Spanish Spanish Span Span- ish serenade was r rehearsed with but little difficulty by the club a fact which proves the quality of the players since the selection selection selection tion was new to everyone Eleven students appeared only about half of those who ha have e already signified their intentions of joining the organization As the club progresses it itis itis itis is to be hoped that those other students in inthe inthe inthe the school will put in an appearance at tice Is not our University large enough to support such stich an organization JaS as the one just started Out of a thousand students should not we ve have lave a strong club We vVe have such an organization now it is strong at atthe atthe atthe the start and will wiIl continue to gain strength as it grows older The only thing which so far is lacking is the voluntary support of the other students who apparently do t riot not ot r realize alize the sacrifices the members are making making making mak mak- ing for the good of the University only The expense of hiring an instructor and the expense of securing first-class first music is to tobe tobe tobe be met by the members WHO SAID COLLEGE COLLEGE COLLEGE COL COL- LEGE SPIRIT If 1 f the members of the Varsity Mandolin Guitar Club have not real genuine unadulterated college ollege spirit then such a thing never existed The organization is a decidedly new feature of university activities yet it begins its career with firm steps It shows by its determination that it is i to be no wild-cat wild idea no fanatical notion of a few students The officers for the ensuing year are as tol follows fol lows Neil Judd J president Granville Gansl vice and president pr Harry I Margetts 1 secretary and treasurer By unanimous consent of the club the services of Mr 11 C. C D. D Sch were secured as conductor No better setter choice could possibly have been made nade as Mr l f r. r is recognized ed throughout the United States States' as a leader of f such organizations As a guitar virtuoso he ic stands supreme in America as an inductor instructor instructor in in- ductor of the mandolin he has no peer P er in inthe inthe the he West Mr is a valuable man and nd the club is to be congratulated in its choice hoice The next rehearsal will be at four o'clock Thursday afternoon Thereafter m meetings will wiIl occur Wednesday afternoons It is to tob tobe tobe be b hoped that other players in school will show enough interest in the work to become members and do what they can to further the organization to make it a permanent part of our University ty BOOST students If you wat want t this new activity to progress make it your work to see that no student stude t in school has any rest if he plays either of the necessary in instruments instruments instruments in- in until he is a member of the club BOOST students student Do not let it be said that the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH lacked a Mandolin Guitar Club because the students failed to support one The club is yours Are you going to keep it Are you going g ing to give it your support and well weIl wishes or are you going to give it a lemon Upon your decision depends the future of THE UNIVERSITY MANDOLIN GUI TAR CLUB Ask the officers for information n. n |
