Show Large Crowd Attends Memorial Services A large number of Cedar City residents gathered at the First Ward Chapel Friday afternoon to pay tribute to Cpl. Dean H. Nelson, Nel-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nelson, who on November 3rd. was killed in action in the Philippines. Tribute was paid at memorial services ser-vices held by the Fifth Ward under the direction of Bishop Wm. Snow. The entire family of the deceased deceas-ed was in attendance except for his win brother Don. who is in the Philippines and who was with Dean when he was killed. Another brotlf-er. brotlf-er. McKay, who Is in service with the Air Corps and who expects to report for overseas duty soon, was home on furlough. Speakers at the services included includ-ed Mrs. Zoe R. Palmer, Frank B. Wood, and Charles R. Hunter. Musical Mus-ical numbers Included vocal solos by Mrs. Annette Betensen, Miles Walker and Ray Cosslett, and a violin solo by Roy L. Halversen. Invocation was by Oeorge Orlmshaw. Orlm-shaw. and benediction by Herbert W. Webster. An American flag was presented to Mrs. Nelson by Oeorge Orlmshaw, Orlm-shaw, S. C. Lamb and Alfred Ol-sen. Ol-sen. representing the Cedar Post of the American Legion. Attention has been called to the fact that of the twelve Cedar City men who have given their lives In 8'f-vlce alx were members of ths Fifth Ward, and a seventh, Wayne Jones, who was a member of a Salt Lake Ward, was brought to Cedar City and services were held In the Fifth Ward, of which hts brother, Homer, is a member. |
