Webster of Suit Lake City and fom.erly of this communitv, hid been reported by the War De-part-until as missing in action in the centra! Pacific area since Fcbru.ir. 24. Ma.'or Webster was born In Cedar Ce-dar City, moving with his parents to Salt. Lake City nineteen jears ago. He graduated from the Fast high .school there and later attended attend-ed the University of Utah. Ho enlisted en-listed in the air corps n una, re-ceiving re-ceiving his commission at Randolph Field. Texas, in July. 1940. Folliw-liv,' Folliw-liv,' his graduation he volunteered for fi'rck'ii service and was transferred trans-ferred to Wheclch Field, Hawaii. He was awarded the silver star for gallantry In action December 7, 1!M1. and was also awarded the purple heart for wounds he re-c re-c Ived at that time. Later, he was transferred to Hickam ficjd, Hawaii, where he seived as commanding officer ol the supply depot, being transferred transfer-red to the Gilbert Islands during the recent fighting there. Major Webster's wife, Mrs. Vlr-ipianla Vlr-ipianla Copley Webster, is a Salt Lnke girl, und has been living there while her husband has been In the service.
