Show Iron County Property Tan Levy Increased by 2 Mills The Iron County Tax levy for 1946 has been set at 7.7 mills .6 of a mill less than the 8 3 mill levy of last year, and the state school levy was reduced by 1.3 mills, but an increase of 3.9 mills by the Iron Iron county School Distrlqt has made an Increase of 2.0 mills in the total levy In the county for the year. Increases were made In the levy le-vy for four county funds for this year" the county road fund being increased from 1.5 mills to 1.9 mills, the county library fund levy by .1 of a mill from .3 to .4, and a .1 of a mill levy was made for the county coun-ty Indigent fund, and .6 of a m'll levy for airports, while no levy was made for these funds last year. However, decreases were made in four levies for a total decrease In the county levy of .6 of a mill. The county general fund levy was dropped drop-ped from 3.3 to 2.6 mills, the county hospital levy from 1 mill to .5 of a mill, the public welfare levy from 1 1.7 mills to 1.6 mills, while no levy was made for weed eradication, for which .5 of a mill was levied last year. The County School levy was set at 19.6 mills as compared with 15.7 mills last year, while the State school levy was reduced from 4.0 mills last year to 2 7 mills for 1946. These changes result in a 2.0 mill increase In the total county levy, 30 mills this year as compared with 28 mills last year. Cedar City's levy this year Is 28 mills the same as last year, so the Increase on property In Cedar City will be 2 mills, a total of 58 mills as compared to 56 last year. Parowan has an Increase of 2.5 mills, the levy le-vy this year being 16 mills as compared com-pared with 13.5 last year, making the total levy on Parowan City property pro-perty 46 mills this year as compared to 41.6 mills last year. In addition to the Increase In the levy the assessed valuation of the county has been increased bringing bring-ing the total taxes to a higher level. The total valuation in the county this year Is $11,539,000 as compared with 111,232,000 in 1945. |
