Show Cooperation Needed The present City Administration has made big advances In its program pro-gram to keep Main Street clean and attractive, but must have greater cooperation from people generally if they are to be tble to keep the streets as clean as It should be. The city officials have arranged to have the street Washed each day i.nd to have the gutter swept as a means of keeping the street clean of rubbish, but in .spite of this attempt at-tempt to keep the street clean it looks like a b'ack alley on occasions because of the h.ck of cooperation on the part of citizens generally. Lack of civic pride is on the part of children and udults lalike is evidenced by the fact that they throw newspapers, paper sacks, wrappers, etc. on the street at any time 'and any place that they may fiiiLh with such Items. It Is not unusual to see young people throw magazines or "Funnies'' onto the street when they finish with them. Shoppers tear wrappers from parcels par-cels and drop the torn paper at their feet. Newspapers are thrown from cars and left to blow wherever wher-ever they may. Manyi merchants are throwing paper boxes, packing materials, etc.. out their back doors without providing containers and leaving such rubbish loose to blow out on the street. All these things add to hee dificulty of keeping Main street clean and should be stopped. The city officials are doing a commendable Job and If citizens do not have civic pride enough to cooperate co-operate It is time the police officers of-ficers remind them of their responsibilities res-ponsibilities and put a stop to the practice of littering up the street.
