Show i Competition Strong Among High School Basketball Teams High school basketball teams in the Dixie division of the Utah State Mign ecnooi eague win sian competition com-petition in earnest this week end with each of the seven teams In the division striving to win a berth in the state tournament to be held in Salt Lake City early in March. One league game was played last week end, the Hurricane high team journeying to Enterprise to hand the Enterprise quint a 40 to 26 lacing to start the season in the number one spot. Every team in the division will play this week end, with Coach Floyd Slater's Cedar City team playing play-ing two games. The Cedarltes will Journey "over the mountain" to play at Kanab Friday night and at Or-derville Or-derville Saturday night. This "over the mountain" trip is generally considered as one of the toughest assignments of any team on this side of the district, and if the Cedar Ce-dar squad can win both these games they can be expected to finish high in the standings. The other this week are as fol lows: Friday Hurricane at Parowan Paro-wan and Dixie at Enterprise. The results of practice games played during December seem to indicate that the Dixie division race will be a close one with almost any team in the league having a chance to win division honors. A. |
