Show CEDAR CITY MAKES GENEROUS RESPONSE Needs ol Local Bed Cross (Juiekly Met and to Spare B Generous Citizen of This Place. Since the beginning of the war the people of Cedar have time after time given proof of the genuine and practical prac-tical quality of their patriotism, but in no way have they shown this more , conspicuously than in the response they have made to the call of the Red Cross and the campaign of last week proved no exception. When the local Red Cross officials found that the funds were entirely exhausted and that a minimum of $500 would be necessary if the work was to be kept going for the next thiee months with any degree of efficiency, it was decided decid-ed to refer the matter up to the people peo-ple to decide what could be done to meet the situation. A eommittee of able citizens with Harry Leigh as chairman, was appointed nnd they decided de-cided that the most effective way to raise funds would be by a house-to-houso canvass. The result of their campaign was the raising of nearly $800.00 The cordiality with which the canvass was received shows that the people realize that every cent of mont'y given to the Red Cross foes to the noblest of all ends: the relief of suffering nnd the saving of the lives of the soldier boys who are for away, , fighting for the cause of humnn liberty. |
