Show I MIND READING. "Mind reading" Is both n game and an experiment and played by any number of persons, ono of whom leaves the room while tho others agreo on some Blinple thing for hlb to do. Tho player play-er without is thon called in, and ono of tho company takes him by tho hand, at tho same tlmo thinking intently of the thing agreed upon. Ho must not movo unless the first player moves. The player who went out must keep his mtnd quiet, trying to think of nothing noth-ing in particular, moving in any direction direc-tion he feels impelled to move and doing do-ing whatover he feols impelled to do. The player will very often do tho very thing he was required by tho company to do. There Is po general, agreement as to why this should be the case. It is argued ar-gued by some that the player's mind Jaxvallyl influenced by that of the one who held, ale hand.. Otbers , maintain that the success' of the experiment is usually the result of chance. Again, It Is alleged, that the player who has bis mind bent upon the, act In question thinks of it so intently that he cannot help showing the other, by unconscious muscular movements, what Is to bo done. It Is generally found that certain players succeed better when they are leaders and otbers when they nro led. Instead of merely taking hands tho player who goes out often holds the back of the other's band against his forehead. Sometimes th'e ono who goes out holds no one's hand at all, but tho entire company think very earnestly of what tbey have agreed he shall do. |
