The Iron Count y School Hoard met in regular session at Parowan Oct. 1, when the following business was taken tak-en up: Mr. Charles Adams and Mr. (lurr, members of the committee from Parowan Paro-wan who bought the old school building, build-ing, appeared and the matter of a lease of the grounds upon which the building stands was discussed. It was decided to let the committee submit sub-mit to the school board such form of ! lease as they woud accept. Superintendent Nuttall reported that he had gone over the situation at Newcastle and decided that an assistant as-sistant teacher WaS not necessary. Supt. Nuttall went over the situation situa-tion of the smaller schools of the .county with the Hoard and the matter was discussed. The Hoard considered the advisability of running some of the smaller schools of the county for only six months in order to open additional ad-ditional schools in small places where there ware sufficient pupils to hold same for six months. The matter was taken under advisement. It was decided to give the material in the old school building at Summit to Mr. Lawrence, f that place, if he would tear down the old building and (dean up the premises, The Hoard do Ided to advance rent yii the Relief Society building at Parowan, Par-owan, which Is now being used for Domestic Science in the High school in order that the Society might be able to install a sink, which will be necessary for the students in their work. The Hoard went over the matter of Mechanic Arts and Domestic Science tea'hers nnd the janitors purchasing materials at the local stores. It was decided that such t'acheis and janitors jani-tors should submit their needs to the Superintendent and if so authorised to purchase same ami hand bill to clerk. The matter of having a school band and orchestra in Cedar City was taken up and the matter was left until next meeting so as to give the Hoard ami Superintendent time to look into the matter. The Hoard decided to advance $100 to Superintendent Nuttall so that freight bills may be paid without waiting wait-ing for a meeting of the Hoard. Mr. R. L. Jones appeared in meeting meet-ing and discussed the mutter of wiring wir-ing the Parowan school building. It wai decided I leave the acceptance of bids to the architects, with the understanding un-derstanding that all of the building be wired instead of part. The Hoard authorized Supt.
