Show .SPLENDID IMPROVEMENTS TO STREETS UNDER WAY Unsightly Cot ton wood Trunks Being Removed to Dive Place to Neat Cement Walks and Gutters. Important street and sidewalk improvements im-provements are under way in Cedar City these days. The old unsightly cottonwood tree trunks and stumps ! have been removed from the upper part of Main street adjoining the bus iness district and the cement walk will shortly be completed up as far as the intersection of Center street, and then pushed on up as far as First South street. Already a splendid four-foot cement walk has been laid on the west side of First West street, between Center street und First South, and before be-fore the hard freezing weather sets in it is expected that Cedar's paved district will have been materially extended. ex-tended. Notices of intention to tax and bond for paving anil grading and guttering of streets have been published in The Record for some time past, and the preliminaries have all been taken care of so that now it only remains to push the work to completion. This is a character of improvement which does more to enhance the appearance and convenience of a town than any thing that can be done, and is one in which Cedar City has been a little behind be-hind other cities of its class, so that it is gratifying to note the activity along this line. |
