County Physician Leonard was called to Kanarra last Monday and quarantined a caso of measles at tho home of Mr. and Mrs. Will C. Reovcs. This is the first caso reported for that place. Among other visitors from Kanarra at tho recent conference, our reportor noticed tho following: Bishop John W. Berry, Joel J. Roundy, John Piatt, R. J. Williams, Miss EfTa Mulllner, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Williams, and Mrs. Hattie Balacr. Newa is received of the somewhat serious illness of Miss Bell Williams at Harmony, from appendicitis, and It is quito possible that she may dc cide to undergo an operation for the trouble during tho expected visit of Dr. Middleton. Mr. and Mrs. David Bulloch, and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Jones returned yesterday from Kanab, where tho gentlemen went to attend n stockman's stock-man's convention. Tho party reports a very pleasant trip, good weather and most hospitable treatment. Samuel W. Leigh returned yesterday yester-day from Salt Lake City, having recovered re-covered from the offoct3 of his recent operation at the L. D. S. hospital. Ho reports that Mrs. Lottie Esplin is also recovering nicely from tho effects of her recent oporation for appendicitis and other complications. Don't forgot tho old timo party to be held Wednesday, March 24th, in tho B. A. C. auditorium. Tho affair promises to bo a most enjoyable one, and the object to be obtained is certainly cer-tainly praiseworthy the aid of the co-operative laundry movement Price of admission will be only 50 centa per couple. Leonard has a number of important operations booked for attention at-tention at the Southern Utah hospital and has telephoned to Salt Lako City for assistance with some of tho more critical ones. Marshal Froyd was instrumental this week in bringing to justice two young boys who wantonly cut to pieces piec-es a harnogs belonging to Harton Haight last Sunday afternoon. The boys, whose names we will not make public on this occasion, were about 12 years of ago, and there appears to havo been no motive for tho act, other oth-er than pure wantonness. The offend-ers offend-ers were arraigned beforo Juvenile Court Officer Jethro Palmer, and were reprimanded for their crime. The damage resulting was considerable to the owner of the harness. Dr. and Mrs. Leonard and their two children spent a portion of this week in Toquerville, Hurricane and other settlements In Eastern Washington county. Dr. Leonard states that Dr. H. H. Wilkinson, who recently located at Hurricane, is exceptionally busy, being on tho go practically day and night, and that his efforts thus far have been attended with phenomenal 6ucccB8. There ia quito an epidemic of pneumonia in that section and Dr. Wilkinson has somo very serious cases, cas-es, but apparently he is pulling them through In good shape. Dr. and Mrs. Leonard report a very pleasant trip, No satisfactory bid having beon received re-ceived by the department for tho carrying car-rying of the mails for the next three years on the route from St. Georgo to Lund, via this city, advertisements aro again posted at the Lund and St. kGeorgo offices asking for bids for tho performance of this service. Apparently Appar-ently there is a difforenco of opinion between the department and the majority ma-jority of people having a disposition to engage in this line of work as to the value of the service to bo performed. The bond required with bid under the new advertisement is $15,000, and 10 hours are allowed for making the run olthvr way. Including all stops. |
