Show Bowaaii Cooking Class Tenders Recep tion to Faculty of formal and Guests Luncheon Served. Tuesday evening the remaining remain-ing local members of the original origin-al Bowman Cooking Class, now the Domestic Science class of the Normal, gave a reception to the faculty pf'the school, the present members ot the class, ' and a number of invited guests, j The receptjon was held in the Litsic room, of the science build-1 ing. Mrs. E. H. Ryan, the president, was in charge of the i program, assisted by the other' six charter members of thej school. The following program , was rendered: Violin solo, Prof, A. N. Tol-lestrup; Tol-lestrup; address, Mrs. E. H. Ryan, the president; reading, by Miss Myrtle Decker; vocal solo, Mr. Clifford Ashby; a toast' to the men, by Mrs. J. W. BartorCin a measure partook of the nature of a "roast" "for" men; recitation, Mrs. Kate Mac-1 farlane; toasts by Mesdames1 Jejhro Palmer, B. F. Knell, , Isaac Parry, and Mr. J. W. Barton. Bar-ton. Prof. G. W. Decker delighted those present with a few words ' of commendation for the work of the Domestic Science depart-, ment. After the program, every j one repaired to the dining ' room where, in the language of one of the lady speakers, "food and raiment" were served. It was of the delicious variety that , puts a man right with everybody ; and everything, for the time at i least. Having had the privilege j of making a personal test, the Editor desires to add his endorsement of the capa-,i bilities of the good ladies of the school. , ' i - nil-1 " , ! Orson Bryant, the popular delivery de-livery man 6f the Equitable Coop. Co-op. Store, is spending a two-weeks two-weeks vacation in improving his farm down on the meadow. He is- expected to be at his post again next Monday morning. 1 Dr. George W. Middleton of 'Salt Lake City arrived in the j city yesterday and will opeiate j on a number of patients at the , Southern Utah hospital. He is accompanied by Miss Powell, , assistant superintendent of the L. D. S. Hospital Jn Salt Lako. Although not financially interested interes-ted in the local hospital, Dr. Middleton responds to urgent requests for his, services, and makes occasional, visits to this city to perform operations. i Dr. F. J. Alexander, Optometrist Optome-trist of the Alexander Optical Company will be at the Cedars Hotel, Cedar City, Saturday, May 18th from 1 to 8 p. m. Sunday May 19th, all day, and Monday May 20th until noon. Orton Hotel, Parowan, Tuesday May 2lst all day up to G p. m. |
