Show 00 Last Saturday, Monroo Thorley and Glen Flnnnigan, while plnying with some old black powder they had found, wero seriously burned when they attempted to set off n cartridge shell they had filled with the powder. Tho boys, as near ns can be learned, hnd secured the powder and taken it up stairs in the David Thorley home nnd wero making firo crackers, using empty cartridge shells for tho purpose having tho powder lying on tho bed upon which they wero sitting. The first attempt only produced slight results, re-sults, and they refilled the shell, touched it off and it exploded throwing throw-ing the fire to tho powder on tho bed, tho explosion of which enveloped tho boys in flames, setting fire to their clothing and tho bedding. The Flan-nigan Flan-nigan boy received tho worst hurts, being badly burned on his hands, neck, face and head. The Thorley boy, although receiving severe bums was not so badly hurt. Tho Flanni-gan Flanni-gan boy was taken to the hospital where his bums were ntteded to and he is now getting along nicely. nn |
