Show AMERICAN LEGION SCORES AGAIN EXCELLENT COACHING OF PROF. LEWIS AND COMMENDABLE WORK OF PLAYERS MAKE SUCCESS. Onco again tho Cedar Post of tho American Legion favorably appeared before the public. In presenting the play "It Pays to Advertiso" last Saturday Sat-urday night tho organization took tho lead in entertaining in Cedar. The Legion is a wide awake organization, or-ganization, and is always doing something some-thing that is worthy the attention of tho public. K has always made a success of anything that it haB attempted, at-tempted, and certainly did not fall down on its record when it produced the snappy comedy, "It Pays to Advertiso", Ad-vertiso", under tho direction of Prof. H. Claude Lewis. The play is ono that has to be put over with pep, and action, and to say that it was entirely a success shows that every member of the cast was up and doing; that they did justice to their respective re-spective parts. . Tho appreciative audience seemed to forget that they were watching nmatuers and enjoyed the play aa much as if it were being put on by professionals. From tho time the -curtain went up thorn was no lull in the performance; there was always somo action, some highly pleasing bit of comedy going on. The ease with which the players took thoir parts was refreshing, Thero was not ono character but that was portrayed with ease and true to life. Scones whoso success depended upon quick action, nnd upon each player coming in with his or her part just nt tho right time, and without hesitation, were put through in such a manner as to make the play more successful than even tho most optomistic cou'd have expected. With as much credit as should be given to tho actors, there is one man who probably should receive greater credit, and that is Prof. Lewis. His persistent work and ability to handle individuals probably did more toward making tho play tho success it was than any other thing. The Legion was fortunate in having one so talented talent-ed directing the play. Pn fact the community can trace a great deal of its success to Prof. Lewis. The play and the way it was handled will itself show what credit he deserves. Taking as difficult a play as this and putting it on in such a pleasing way, with amatuers, no matter h5w good they may be, is really an accomplishment accom-plishment for any coacher to be proud of. At the hands of a real live organization, or-ganization, a worthy coacher, and the B. A. C. orchestra, under the direction direc-tion of the very popular music leader, Mr. James West, the people of Cedar were given an evening's entertainment that has not been surpassed sur-passed for a long time. |
