Show RAILROADS RETURNED President Wilson signed the bill returning re-turning the railroads to private ownership own-ership on Februnry 2fith. In a letter to the brotherhoods on the snme day the pre 'iduit upheld public representation on the wage adjustment ad-justment board. After President Wilson rccieved the railroad bill as passed by Congress Con-gress he referred it to Attorney General Gen-eral Palmer for an opinion as to its constitutionality. Tho Attorney General Gen-eral returned the bill to the President Pres-ident with the statement that he could find no constitutional objection to it. i The bill was also referred by the President Pres-ident to Walker D. Hines Director I General of railroads for his opinion. i Mr Hines has made a study of the bill since it was first taken up in conference con-ference between the House and Scn-i Scn-i ate and has statvd that he regarded it as about the best legislation that could bo obtained under the circumstances. |
