Show I OBJECTS TO BONDS I OF WATER SYSTEM m Citizen of Cedar City Believes the M Present Facilities May Answer M . Advocates Meters. Mi Ccdur City, Utah, March 29, 1920. F Editor' Record Will you permit mOj M ' through the columns of your paper to ' M express my views in relation to the M;. proposed bonding of the city to in-H in-H crease the water suppy. I am one of M those who investigated the supply of , M water under our present system Inst 1 summer, and since that I have given1 H it considerable thought. It is pro-' H) posed now to bond the city to bring Hi tho ClufT Spring in. I am opposed to H$ it at the present time, for the follow-H follow-H ing reasons: H First. A new system has just been ' installed which will be the means of H saving thousands of gallons of water! H in every twenty-four hours. Add to this the supply of 250 to 300 gallons J H per minute which can bo obtained at H the head of our present system. And , H further, if we will spend one-fourth H. the money required to bring the Cluff j H Spring down in installing meters this H -will be Tinothcr source of saving thousands of gallons of water, which I will insure us a sufficient supply for some time to ocmc. The cost of mater-I mater-I ial to bring that water so far is almost H prohibitive. One of the most import-, ant ways to increase our present supply sup-ply would bo to install meters. A great many people who own no water in our creek are anxious to j have the Cluff Spring in, arc paying no consideration to tho farmer's needs i at a time when irrigation water is' low. Take away the Cluff water, and i ftivc the people n free hand to use it, from the system, as ihey have donej in the past, and you will need three, or four more Cluff Springs. Let us save and be conservative with what we have. The Cluff Spring is one of j our chief sources of supply during the low stages of the creek. I am in favor of improving' College, yr. . , , ., Avenue and. also City Park and the installing of the new street lighting system, but do not favor the expens-1 ive program for the turning of Cluff Spring into the water system at the present time. i A CITIZEN. |
