As a part of the work of the department of western history at the University of Utah, Prof. Edgar Ed-gar Young will make extcsinve trips thru southern Utah to add to the department's collection of Indian lore and to obtain relics from Indian In-dian and Cliff Dwelling life. Professor Pro-fessor Young will pay special attention atten-tion to the Piute Indian traditions. The department of Western History His-tory has a larger registration at the present time than any Other time, according to Professor Young, who believes that a valuable piece of historical his-torical work is being done by the class in the history of the Great Basin. This class, representing every part of the Great Basin, is working on a history of community commun-ity life in early Utah. For the autumn aut-umn and winter terms at the university uni-versity Professor Young will offer two new seminar courses,, one in the history of irrigation in the far west, and one in the social and po litical development of the far west. From the excavations to be made Professor Young expects to get very interesting specimens to add to the already fine collection in the university museum. Gifts have recently re-cently been made to the museum ry Dr. C. G. Plummer and the Pea-body Pea-body Museum of Harvard. |
