Show Oblttiani Death of Rev. Peter Casey. Rev. Peter Casey, pastor Of St. Joseph's Jo-seph's church, Rawlins, Wyo.; died yesterday. yes-terday. The deceased was well known in this city, where he had many friends, He was ordained in the Salt Lake pro-cathedral pro-cathedral six years ago by .Bishop Scanlan, being the first aspirant for the priesthood who received Holy Orders from the. bishop of this diocese. Father Casey studied In Maynooth college, but before completing the college col-lege course his health broke down. He came to this country in 1S96 to recuperate. recuper-ate. The west, which was recommended recommend-ed to him as the best and most suitable suit-able place for regaining his health, was chosen. He labored faithfully and with all the energy at his command in Wyoming during the past six years. He was pastor in Evanston for four years, and during his pastorate built a neat rock church in Kemmerer, Wyo. During Dur-ing his last illness he was carefully attended at-tended by a devoted sister, who came from her native home to aid and solace him.1- She, far from relatives, mourns the loss of a devoted brother, a zealous priest, but in his life, spent in the service of God and full of good works, she will find real comfort. All tears are wiped away in the hope of a happy reunion where everlasting joy shall reward re-ward the good. May the soul of Father Casey rest in peace and .enjoy blissful immortality. Early. With deep regret the Intermountain Catholic chronicles the death of Mrs. Early, who died at Evanston, Wyo., a few days ago. Her death, though not unexpected, was a terrible shock to her family. Her two daughters, Mary and Kate Early, reside in this city. Mrs. Early was 68 years old and re- i sided in Wyoming for thirty years, coming there from New York. Her funeral took place from St. Mary's church, Evanston. Solemn requiem high mass was celebrated" by Rev. Father Hayes, who delivered the funeral sermon, in which he paid a well merited tribute to the beautiful life and character of the deceased. The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved be-reaved husband and children in the loss they have sustained. May they be comforted in their bereavement in knowing that their dear one died as she lived, a truly devout Christian wife and mother; and the loving memory mem-ory of such a mother is the grandest heritage. She fell asleep with God's peace upon her, and the waking was sweet. May she rest in peace! Sprenger. The funeral services of Mrs. Bernard Sprenger were held from St. Mary's cathedral last Saturday. . Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan celebrated high mass and delivered the funeral sermon, which was a beautiful tribute to the devout Christian woman. A large number attended the funeral, and all present were deeply, touched by the impressive services. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Lowe. George A. Lowe, one of the oldest and best known business men of Salt Lake, died suddenly Sunday morning of heart disease at his residence, 308 East First South street. Death came to Mr. Lowe as peacefully as a child drops off to sleep. When he breathed his last he was unconscious, in a semi-slumber. semi-slumber. He was lying on the sofa in the parlor of his home, surrounded by his wife, daughter and servants. He had not the least premonition of death; it came quickly, but peacefully. Mr. Lowe left a -wife, Mrs. Anna Lowe; a daughter. Miss Catharine Lowe; two sisters. Mrs. C. M. Nye and Miss Susan B. Lowe of De Witte, la., besides a number of relatives, including includ-ing City Attorney George L. Nve nf this city, the latter being named after him. ....... The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved mother and daughter, who mourn the loss of almost loving husband hus-band and devoted father. |
